Increase International Trade to Create Jobs

Posted: March 02, 2010, 3:21 PM
As creating jobs will be my top priority, finding new and creative avenues to create jobs is a must. To play to our strength, Florida’s geography makes it a perfect hub for international trade. As your Congressman, I will seek international business from companies both within and outside of our borders. I will also seek federal dollars to provide our existing trade industry the support it needs in order to compete for this business. Our deep water ports are a significant driver of our economy and with the right federal trade policies even more jobs can be created.

Tampa Bay is the tourist hub of the West Coast of Florida. Being geographically convenient to so many tropical vacation destinations, Florida's displaced labor force is ready and willing to mfg. and supply nearby foreign resort islands with the kinds of supplies and products they now import from counties like China, across oceans adding huge tariffs and transportation costs. American made products are competitive because of our close proximity to a myriad of tropical paradise destinations.
