Jobs and Economic Development

Creating jobs and jumpstarting our economy is the most important task facing America. Congressman Bill Young thinks trading budget earmarks for campaign contributions is the most important task of a Congressman. He’s wrong. At the deepest part of the Great Recession, Young voted against the stimulus package that was designed to pull us back from the brink.

The best way to create jobs is to expand international trade and bring jobs to our ports, tax breaks targeted to small businesses and sensible policies that attract private sector jobs to Pinellas County. The stimulus was a start but the package didn’t have enough job-creating infrastructure projects in it. Creating good paying jobs, with benefits, will be my top priority in Congress.

I am not in your area but I suggest Democrats focus on regional economic development strategies. Yes there is competition but also each area has their own ability to keep regional dollars within our communities and should look toward this strategy. Economies in the future may not be as 'global' or far fetched as we all once thought. Deepening our roots, adding local ingenuity and collaboration to create liveable solutions. You might call this a homesteading mentality if you will. Good Luck !

As Clearwater's premier resume company CEO, I am dedicated to helping Charlie realize "Justice" for Florida's unemployed. Bill Young's promises turned out to empty, at best. Charlie is focused on creating jobs for those suffering the wrath of a struggling economy. Florida's unemployment stats are way out of proportion. National unemployed is approx 13 million/FL unemployed is approx 900K. Of the 50 states, if all had 900K unemployed like FL, national unemployment would be 45 mil./not 13.
